For a US home office or spare-room shop
Pick a first printer without drowning in ink.
Default: an Epson EcoTank all-in-one for documents you actually need. This is not epson.com, not a photo lab, and not a coupon page. We will tell you when an HP Instant Ink cartridge printer (covered on sister site Office Kit) or a Canon tank machine is the more honest fit.

This is not Epson’s store, support, or EcoTank campaign. We do not copy their yellow-and-blue brand system. Model names belong to Epson. We do not invent street prices, page yields as if we measured them, or coupon codes.

The default, if you want one
If you print letters, invoices, packing slips, and the occasional form — and you hate buying cartridges — start in Epson’s EcoTank family: refillable bottles, no ink subscription required, running cost that is usually the point of the product. Confirm which current US model has the ADF, duplex, and paper size you need. If you print almost nothing, a cheap cartridge printer plus a subscription can cost less in year one. If you print photos as the job, this is the wrong site.

Bottles vs cartridges vs a plan
EcoTank is a high-upfront, low-replenishment bet. Instant Ink is a monthly bet. Cheap cartridges are a tax on each print. Pick the architecture before the color of the plastic.
This is not Office Print
Office Print (sister) is Canon-first for invoices, contracts, ADF, and duty cycle. Home Print is the first machine in a spare room. If you already know you need a 35-sheet feeder and Ethernet, go there.
HP lives on a sister site
Office Kit is the HP hardware brief. We mention HP Instant Ink here as an honest alternative, including when it wins at very low volume.
